This class is for people (no age limit) who are starting off their yoga journey and want to learn the physical, mental and emotional benefits of yoga after just one class.
In this class we will learn:
1) Breathing Techiques: Breath is an important element in the yogic practice. Practicing breath awareness even for 5 mins a day helps in calming the mind, increases focus and concentration and brings awareness to your emotional and mental states of being. In the first 15 mins of the class we will some of these breathing techiques:
3 stages of pranayama
yogic breathing
bhastrika
kappalbhatti
anilom vilom
nadi shodhana
2) Yoga Asanas: Asanas or physical postures are a great way to increase flexibility, strengthen joints and build strength. Not only does asana practice keep the body fit but, it also reduces any existing aches and pains in the body. For the next 35 mins of thia class, we will explore:
- Suryanamaskars
- Standing Postures
- Sitting Postures
- Supine Postures
- Spinal Postures
- Inversions (basics techniques that can build upto a headstand over a period of time)
The yoga asanas will be explored in three different styles: Ashtanga, Vinyasa & Hatha. (In a particular session we will focus on one style)
3) Full Body Relaxation Meditation: The class will end with a 10 min full body relaxation mediation after which you are guaranteed to feel stress free and in high spirits!
