Preparing for an interview is always stressful. Many a time, a candidate has a strong technical background but when it comes to spoken English or putting your point through, he/she loses marks. Well, fear no more as we bring you ten simple tips to ace an English interview.
Be positive
This is the golden rule for any interview. Always be positive and answer with confidence. If you do not know the answer, admit it rather than giving a silly reply.
Prepare yourself for the D-day
A little preparation can always help you conquer your anxiety for the D-day. You can conduct mock interviews with some help from family or friends or you can stand in front of the mirror and practice. The second option would help you analyze your body language, facial expressions, and speech.
Body language
- A good conduct in the interview can throw light at your personality.
- Always ask, “May I come in?” before entering the room and take the seat only when asked to.
- Give a firm shake hand and maintain eye contact.
- Sit straight and comfortable. Your mind should only focus on the questions and nothing else.
- Dress well for the important day.
- Speak clearly. Keep the language simple. Listen to what the interviewer has to say. Speak only when he/she has done talking.
Introduce yourself
Your introduction should be short and organized. You can also talk about your past work and responsibilities.
Never begin the sentence with, “Myself XYZ.” You need to begin with, “Hello Sir/Madam, My name is XYZ.”
Your CV is critical
A good resume or CV helps the interviewer know you better. Your CV should have all your details in an organized manner. Apart from academic grades, include skills, achievements, and strengths. Do not lie. Honesty is the best policy.
