My son, in standard 1, can grasp everything but doesn't have the patience to sit for a minute in one place. How to make him learn patience?
Dear parent, your concern for your child's hyperactivity and short attention span is quite reasonable. At this age, these toddlers are pretty curious, explorative and attracted to exciting things. For this, presenting information in a captivating way, inclusive of variety, will keep the child engrossed. Involve him practically in the learning process. As he's a hyperactive kid, he would learn more by imbibing a hands-on approach. It will be a win-win situation for the child-parent-teacher.

What you want first is to take all the excess energy out of the child. Now there is one way to do that, take him out and let him play in the open to his hearts fill. Be careful, but don't stop him from exploring. Do this for a few days, and you will start seeing a positive change. What positive change you ask, he will slow down. When you ask him to study and allow him some time in the park after completing his studies (An excellent teacher is imperative during this time), do this while gradually decreasing his park time to half an hour.

Avoid many sugars, give more fresh food, avoid loud, fast music post 4 pm. It will settle down. Enjoy this phase with him. Take some time out and play. It will bring in a relaxed state to you and a secure feeling to the child.

In this situation, your son is not getting fun during the learning process. It would help if you talked to his teacher. A teacher can solve your problem by making his/her class full of fun, i.e. learning with fun. In the first week, if his teacher does activities of your child's interest in place of teaching, he will tale interest. After this, I am 100 % sure that he will start to love the class and automatically attend the class patiently.

Instead of making him feel learning is a serious task, you can engage in conversation with him regarding the various topics he needs to learn, such as asking him to tell you the time by the clock, adding up the numbers and so on. With time, he will be able to cope with the process.
