Indian Statistical Service (ISS) along with Indian Economic Service (IES) is a competitive exam conducted yearly for recruitment to Grade IV vacancies. Only the best of the best candidates with extensive knowledge in Statistics for ISS and Economics for IES are selected for the job. The exam is conducted by UPSC and select candidates based on their performance in the written test Part I and Vice voice or Interview in Part II. It is one of the respected government jobs in India with immense growth opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria for Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Exam
Nationality
A candidate must be either-
a) A Citizen of India
b) A subject of Nepal
c) A subject of Bhutan
d) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention to permanently settling in India.
e) A person from Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Vietnam and Zaire, with the intention of permanently staying in India.
Candidates under the above categories will need to produce a certificate of eligibility issued to him/her by the Government of India.
Age
a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2015 i.e. He/she must not have born earlier than 2nd August, 1985 and not later than 1st August, 1994.
b) Age relaxation are given to different categories as follows:
i) A maximum of 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates
ii) A maximum of 3 years in case of OBC candidates
iii) Up to 5 years, if a candidate had ordinarily domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period of 1st January, 1980 – 31st December, 1989.
4) Up to 3 years in case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof.
Educational Qualifications
a) A candidate for the ISS (Indian Statistical Service) must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central government from time to time.
b) Candidates appearing in Qualifying Exam are also eligible to sit in the ISS exam 2015. However, necessary documents should be produced when asked by the committee within the given time frame.

ISS 2015 Examination Fees
Candidates are required to pay a fee of INR 200 (Two hundred rupees only.) Female/SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from paying examination fee. There is no fee exemption for females from OBC category, they need to pay the full prescribed fee. Candidates can deposit the fee in any SBI Branch by cash or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit card.
For those who are ‘Paying by Cash’ mode should print the system generated Pay-in-Slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI branch on the next working day.

Registration for Part-I and Part-II started from 00:00 hours of 21-02-2015 to 23:59 hours of 20-03-2015. Applicants must register within the given time frame, applying outside the mentioned time would be treated as invalid.
