Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is a central level body responsible for conducting various recruitment exams. Every year UPSC conducts Civil Services Exam at Pan India level for filling the administrative positions in IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IRTS. The selection process for this exam consists of three stages – preliminary, mains and final interview.
Applications for UPSC civil services exam can be submitted via online mode only. No other mode of application is allowed. In order to submit applications for all UPSC exams, candidates are required to apply online, on the following website: www.upsconline.nic.in.
Candidates must ensure that they have the following documents before beginning with their UPSC Application Process to ensure a smooth registration process.
Eligible candidates can start filling the online application form once UPSC releases the form. The registration should be completed before the last date. No application will be entertained for withdrawal once it is submitted by a candidate.
The Online Application Process consists of Part-I and Part-II Registration:
Part I Registration is about the candidate’s basic information. Once the details are submitted, the candidate will be prompted to check the details entered and make the correction, if needed, in the application.
Part II Registration is about entering the Payment details (fee exempted candidates can ignore), selection of examination centre, uploading of Photograph, Signature, Photo Identity Card Document and Declaration.

d). Part-I Registration
Fill in your Personal details like Name, Gender, Category, and Nationality, etc., your Educational Qualification, Present Address, Photo ID Proof Details and Civil Services (Main) Examination Details.
Note:
Star marked fields are required to be filled by the candidate.
There will be no change in the Specific Details like the Center of Examination, Optional Subjects, Medium of Examination, Compulsory Indian Language for Civil Services (Main) Examination and in the Specific Details like the Center of Examination and Optional Subjects for Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination once submitted.
f) Candidate must press “I agree” button after all the information provided by him/her is correct. Thereafter no correction/modification shall be allowed. A page with Registration Number will be generated. Please note down the Registration Number or take a print out of the page.
In the same screen, all information (as entered by the candidate) will be displayed. This will include:
Name of the candidate, ‘Father’s Name’, ‘Mother’s name’, ‘DOB’, ‘Address’, ‘Examination Centre’ etc.
g) This follows with a Transaction ID, that you will get after making required payments.
h) SC, ST, Physically Challenged and Women candidates are not required to pay fees.
i) After the first time, whenever you will want to log in to your UPSC account for notice, update and so on, you will require this Registration ID. Hence, keep your Registration ID safe and noted.
j) Part-II Registration
Part-II registration involves payment, selection of centre, uploading of scanned photograph, signature, Photo Identity Card Document and agrees to the declaration.
k) Candidates (except Female/ SC/ ST/ Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only)

l) The fee can be paid in both offline and online mode:
m) Candidate should decide his/her choice of centre for the Examination carefully. If any candidate appears at a centre other than the one indicated by the Commission in his/her Admission Certificate, the papers of such a candidate will not be evaluated and his/her candidature will be liable to cancellation.

n) Photograph: The Scanned photograph should be in JPG format and must be uploaded first. The digital size of the file should be within 300 KB each and must not be less than 20 KB. Resolution should be 350 pixels (Width) X 350 pixels (Height) minimum, 1000 pixels (Width) X 1000 pixels (Height) maximum and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit.
o) Signature: Candidates must upload their scanned signature in JPG format. The digital size of each file should not exceed 300 KB each and must not be less than 20 KB. Resolution is 350 pixels (Width) X 350 pixels (Height) minimum, 1000 pixels (Width) X 1000 pixels (Height) maximum and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit.
p) Photo ID Proof: Candidates must upload their photo identity card document in PDF format only. The digital size of the PDF file should not exceed 300 KB and must not be less than 20 KB.
